I'm Gabriela Gusmão, Brazilian artist, born in 1973, immersed in the extemporaneous poetry of mutation, social metamorphosis and the organic drive of the creative process engaged with urgent planetary issues, addressing climate impacts and sustainability through diverse media including sculpture, video, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, performance and intervention.
I'm the author of the books Rua dos Inventos - Invention Street (2002-2004), Vírgula no Infinito - Comma in the Infinite (2011) and collaborator of Janelas Abertas – Opened Windows (2023). As a mid carrer artist with more than two decades of activity, I have participated in residencies and exhibited my work in group and solo shows in Brazil, Egypt, Portugal, Romania, Spain, France, Italy, the USA, Cyprus, England, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Since 2007, I teach arts and design at PUC-Rio where I'm now developing Phd studies. I have a Master Degree from FAU-USP and MFA from Plymouth University with Transart Institute. My experience involving art, education and social inclusion began in 2011 with the Empatia por Contagio action, together with MAM-Rio with Instituto MESA and continues with projects for public Social Assistance policies in Rio de Janeiro and for adults with neurodiversity in the extension course AEIOU, from PUC-Rio.
Sou Gabriela Gusmão, artista brasileira, nascida em 1973, imersa na poesia extemporânea da mutação, da metamorfose social e da pulsão orgânica do processo criativo. Meu trabalho lida com questões políticas e planetárias urgentes, impactos climáticos e sustentabilidade através de diversas mídias, incluindo escultura, vídeo, fotografia, pintura, desenho, gravura e intervenções multissensoriais.
Sou autora dos livros Rua dos Inventos (2002-2004), Vírgula no Infinito (2011) e colaboradora no livro Janelas Abertas (2023). Com mais de duas décadas de carreira, tenho participado de exposições coletivas e individuais e de residências artísticas no Brasil, Egito, Portugal, Chipre Romênia, Espanha, França, Itália, EUA, Inglaterra, Alemanha e Holanda. Desde 2007, leciono artes e design na PUC-Rio, onde sou doutoranda. Tenho mestrado pela FAU-USP e MFA pela Plymouth University com Transart Institute. Minha experiência envolvendo arte, educação e inclusão social iniciou em 2011 com a ação Empatia por Contágio, junto ao MAM-Rio com o Instituto MESA e segue através de projetos para políticas públicas de Assistência Social no Rio de Janeiro e para adultos com neurodiversidade no curso de extensão AEIOU, da PUC-Rio.
